Air Travel

Quick Tip: You can estimate your CO₂ emissions for flights using distance flown and flight type. Short-haul flights (less than 1,500 km) have higher emissions per km due to takeoff and landing. Emission factors: Short-haul: ~0.25 kg CO₂e/km, Long-haul: ~0.15–0.20 kg CO₂e/km. Don’t forget to add about 10% extra for radiative forcing (non-CO₂ effects like contrails).

Example: 4,000 km long-haul flight → 4,000 × 0.18 × 1.1 = 792 kg CO₂e.

Car Emissions

Quick Tip: You can enter your fuel efficiency in L/100 km or MPG — the calculator will convert it for you. Choose your fuel type: Gasoline, Diesel, or Electric. We’ll apply standard emission factors: Gasoline: ~2.31 kg CO₂e/L, Diesel: ~2.68 kg CO₂e/L, Electric: ~0.15–0.25 kg CO₂e/km (no fuel efficiency needed). You can calculate emissions for any car journey — from short commutes to long-distance road trips.

Motorbike Emissions

Quick Tip: Enter the distance in kilometers and fuel efficiency in L/km. Most motorbikes consume between 0.02–0.05 L/km (or 2–5 L/100km). We'll apply the standard emission factor for gasoline: 2.31 kg CO₂e/L. For example, 500 km at 0.03 L/km → 500 × 0.03 × 2.31 = 34.65 kg CO₂e.

Note: If you have a specific emission factor for your motorbike, you can enter it The calculator.

Motorcycle CO₂e Calculator

Formula: $\text{CO₂e} = (\text{Distance} / \text{Mileage}) \times 2.31$

Train Travel

Quick Tip: Enter the distance of your train journey in kilometers and select the type of train.

  • Electric Trains : 0.03–0.06 kg CO₂e/km (we'll use 0.04 kg CO₂e/km by default)
  • Diesel Trains : ~0.10 kg CO₂e/km
Example: 300 km on an electric train → 300 × 0.04 = 12 kg CO₂e

Note: If you have a specific emission factor for your train, you can enter it in the calculator.

Bus Travel

Quick Tip: Enter the bus travel distance and select the emission factor.
Typical Emission Factor: 0.08–0.12 kg CO₂e/km (based on fuel type and occupancy).
Example: 200 km × 0.10 kg CO₂e/km = 20 kg CO₂e

Metro Travel

Quick Tip: Enter your metro travel distance and select an appropriate emission factor.
Typical Emission Factor: 0.02–0.05 kg CO₂e/km (depends on electricity grid).
Example: 50 km × 0.03 kg CO₂e/km = 1.5kg CO₂e

Note: If you have a specific emission factor for your metro system, you can enter it The calculator.

Online Shopping

Quick Tip: Enter how many times you shop online and select an average emission factor.
Typical Emission Factor: 0.5–2 kg CO₂e/order (includes packaging + shipping).
Example: 10 orders × 1 kg CO₂e = 10kg CO₂e

Note: If you have a specific emission factor for your online shopping, you can enter it The calculator.

Medicine Consumption

Quick Tip: Enter your annual medicine consumption in kilograms (or doses), and choose or enter the emission factor.
Emission Factor Estimate: 10–20 kg CO₂e/kg (covers production, packaging, transport).
Example: 0.1 kg × 15 = 1.5kg CO₂e

Note: If you have a specific emission factor for your medicine, you can enter it The calculator.
